Special Force operators stack up in a hallway for CQB clearance. Close quarters battle tips and tricks.

Speed, surprise and violence of action other three main fundamentals off CQB. In this article I'm going to give you 5 of my top tips help improve your gameplay.

The Breakdown

  1. Accept the inevitable:

You are going to get shot and you are going to get shot a lot. The sooner you accept this the better, as it will allow you to get past that mental barrier and to be more aggressive in your gameplay. Being hit it's part of the game and you shouldn't put any stress or pressure on yourself if you do get hit.

  2. Be aggressive:

CQB is incredibly up close and personal with the enemy forces you have to be aggressive. You want to be controlling the situation and putting the enemy on the back foot. Taking initiative and controlling the environment by dictating how the engagement goes allows you much more control over your enemy. By being fast and aggressive you stand a better chance of winning.

  3. Practice makes perfect:

Practice your drills outside of the field as this will allow you the best chance on game day to perform at your best. When you have free time at home you want to be practicing your weapon handling your movement your footwork and your shooting. I personally spend time each week honing these drills both clean fatigue and after thrashing myself in a PT session.

  4. Switch it up:

If you have a sidearm don't be scared to use it. There are often many scenarios will join your secondary is much more effective than using your primary. If you find yourself in a tight room or corridor the greater manipulation of a pistol allows you much more flexibility to use cover appropriately.

  5. Cardio is king:

Spend some time getting fitter. This has to be my #1 tip for airsoft in general but the fitter you are the more effective you are. There are reasons why every military across the globe has fitness standards,  and those reasons could be said for airsoft off too. If you're doing a lot of CQB it can be tiring specially if you're wearing a lot of kit. So take the time outside of the games to do some physical training to get a bit fitter and trust me you will see huge improvements in your gameplay.
