The Breakdown
Improve your performance by developing your physical fitness. I would say this is one of the foundational aspects to improve, and you need to focus on it if you want to improve the quality of your training but also your airsoft in general. There is a reason why military units the world over have high fitness standards, being a Soldier I know all to well the importance of maintaining a good fitness level. Maintaining and improving fitness standards can affect airsoft performance in both your training and events you attend. There does not need to be stupid amounts of physical training but focus on the key elements to make you a well-rounded tactical athlete. Cardio, strength training, agility and flexibility are all important and all need a level of attention to train they best possible way. Make a personal development plan. We recently released a great article on this exact thing and how to create and manage your airsoft training with a structured approach, check it out HERE. It is important to do this, so you have set goals that work to improve your areas which you have identified needing improvement. Putting the work in early to make a strong foundation to build upon is key to success. By doing this it allows you to really assess your training, and the improvements you are making and then make any required adjustments or changes as you see necessary.
Focus on quality not quantity. This saying is definitely true when it comes to training in general. If you are doing loads of training but it isnt structured or of value, then it can be a complete waste of time. Focus on conducting quality training that is planned and well thought out. Don’t forget that Airsoft is a sport and there are masses of valuable resources out there to help you train and improve. Do not try to do to much all at once, you will just overwhelm yourself and not make any valuable gains, focus on specific areas of quality training.
Consistency is key. The only thing that will make you better over time is constantly showing up and putting in the reps. You will see that saying all over this blog “put in the reps” because I truly believe that repetition and consistency is what will make you better. You have to constantly show up and put in effort to become a better player. Enjoy the process , after all it is most likely doing something you love and are passionate about so it should not be hard to find the motivation and discipline required to be consistent.

Summary
In conclusion, there are lots of ways you can improve your training and give your performance a solid boost. Getting fitter, making a good plan and then consistently putting in the effort with good quality training will make you a much better player in no time. Put in the reps. Stay safe.
